Corona numbers: No relaxation in the intensive care units in MV

The seven-day incidence in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is also lower on Saturday than on the previous days. At the weekend, however, there are usually fewer reports than during the week. With 2,796 new infections detected, the State Office for Health and Social Affairs reported around 1,400 fewer cases than in the previous week. The corona incidence of new infections fell to 1806.

Last Saturday this value was 2366 in MV. Currently 70,564 people in MV are officially infected with Corona (previous week: 82,393)

According to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the seven-day incidence of new infections nationwide was 1531.5 on Saturday morning – and the trend is falling.

Fewer PCR tests, higher positive rate

Not unimportant: Even if, according to the weekly swab report by LAGuS, a total of 64,335 swabs for PCR tests were reported last week (March 21 – 27), i.e. around 10,000 fewer than the week before, 56 of them, 7 percent but more than half positive.

The positive rate of the PCR tests had risen sharply in recent months: In January, a total of 25.8 percent of almost 201,000 tests in MV were positive, in February 225,700 tests were already 42.5 percent and in March 271,901 tests were even more than everyone second test (54.6 percent).

ITS utilization still high only due to Corona

In the hospitals in MV, 643 patients were treated with Corona on Saturday (previous week: 768), 59 fewer than the day before. 84 patients were still in the intensive care units (previous week: 76). There were two new deaths, both in Rostock, bringing the total number of corona deaths in the north-east to 2018. Nationwide, 292 new corona deaths were reported for Saturday.

The hospitalization incidence, which is important for protective measures – i.e. the number of patients admitted to hospitals because of corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days – was given as 9.4. The value fell by 1.5 compared to the previous day, which is far below the value from last Saturday (12.4).

While this value has fallen sharply, the ITS utilization with corona patients is higher at 13.9 percent than in the week before (12.8 percent on March 26).

The two Western Pomeranian counties continue to have the highest ITS utilization with corona cases at 16.5 percent. The corona load in intensive care units increased within a week in all remaining counties and cities except in the Lake District.
