Corona numbers in Offenbach and the surrounding area: incidence in two districts is increasing

The Omikron wave continues to have a firm grip on the region around Offenbach, Hanau and Darmstadt. However, the incidences are gradually falling again.

Offenbach/Hanau/Darmstadt – The Omicron wave is currently hitting the region around Offenbach, Hanau and Darmstadt with full force. The number of corona cases has been at a record level since the turn of the year. The current number of cases can be found at the end of the text.

Vaccination against the coronavirus is a crucial way out of the pandemic. Corona vaccinations for children in particular are currently in high demand. Since December 2021, children over the age of five can also be vaccinated. A nationwide vaccination requirement has recently been discussed again and again, but not implemented.

Corona in Offenbach, Darmstadt, Hanau: Critical infrastructure is arming itself against Omikron

Since the beginning of the fourth wave and the rapid spread of the Omicron variant, the critical infrastructure in the region around Offenbach, Hanau and Darmstadt has also been prepared for emergencies. Shift groups in the police, fire brigade, medical and municipal services are separated from one another in order to be able to quickly break through chains of infection.

Since September 2021, there have been two other indicators in addition to the corona incidence, which are used to assess the infection situation in the country – the hospitalization incidence (or rate) and the occupancy of the intensive care beds. According to the RKI, the hospitalization incidence in Hesse is currently 6.15 (data as of February 25, 2022, previous week 7.18). The number describes the number of patients admitted to Hessian hospitals within a week because of Covid-19 per 100,000 inhabitants.

According to the DIVI intensive care register, 185 patients with Covid-19 are currently being treated in intensive care units in Hesse (as of February 28, 2022, 6:05 a.m.). According to the IVENA software, there were 1188 Covid patients in the normal wards (as of February 26, 2022, 11 a.m.). A SARS-CoV-2 infection was confirmed in 1063, and suspected in 125.
