On Friday, Oslo Municipality stated that 352 new cases of infection were registered in the last 24 hours. There is a new infection record in Oslo. Health councilor Robert Steen comes with a prayer to the population.
– This is a demanding time. Now we need that absolutely everyone contributes to the virus and that we stand together, Steen tells Dagbladet.
– This week we have unfortunately seen infection records, but the people of Oslo are now testing themselves so much that we also have many days with test records. Keep testing, keep your distance and keep the number of contacts down.

Strict measures
352 new cases of infection are 115 more than the average of the previous seven days, which was 237 infected per day. That is 149 more than the average of the previous 14 days, which was 203 infected per day.
The last time the same number was reported was on Thursday 4 March when 308 infected people were registered in the capital.
– The infection has spread after all holidays, including the winter holidays. Therefore, we put in place stricter measures last Tuesday and more on Monday this week. We hope to see the effect of these measures soon, says health councilor Steen.

Affected neighborhoods
The infection pressure is clearly highest in Grorud district with 953 infected per 100,000 inhabitants in the last two weeks. It is more than four times as high as in the Ullern district, where the number is 203. In Stovner, the number is 913, and in the Alna district, 801 infections have been registered per 100,000 inhabitants.
Next to Ullern, Nordre Aker and Nordstrand have the lowest infection rates with 203 and 223 infected per 100,000 inhabitants, respectively.
– There is now a very high infection pressure in the city, in all districts. We see a large increase in how many people become so ill that they are admitted to hospital. It is important that our hospitals do not get too many corona patients, also because they must ensure treatment of patients who need help with, for example, chronic illness, cancer or injuries, says health councilor Steen to Dagbladet.
A total of 22,622 Oslo citizens have been registered infected since March last year. About a quarter of the cases, over 5,300, are registered in the age group 20 to 29 years.
