You are behind. The masks, the vaccinations, the discussions, especially in the media. Of course, everyone has always been allowed to wear a mask. And you can always get vaccinated. But so far we have been able to successfully avoid the discussion.
It seems over. We still read: “The number of cases of corona is increasing”, “Recommended vaccinations for over 60s” and “Are we threatened with the obligation of a mask?” After nearly three years of a pandemic and a successful repression strategy, I’m about to throw up. Do we have to hear the same tune every winter now?
My thoughts are going crazy: Aunt Olga sits alone at Christmas in front of her goulash, just like last year and the year before. The Freedom Trychlers dust off their bells. Some Americans swallow disinfectant.
Perhaps someone like former Tanzania president John Magufuli will soon claim that a goat, a chicken and a papaya tested positive in their country. Enough, enough, enough!
SRF’s corporate editors believe hospitals are unlikely to be overwhelmed. This calms the mind, but not the Covid debate. The Austrian philosopher Paul Watzlawick once said: “One cannot not communicate”. Ignoring the Covid issue would be a wrong statement. But after two Covid winters we know the debate. If the cantons or the FOPH want to make a difference with their appeals, the motto should be moderation.
