Lower Saxony Medical Association: Smoking increases the risk of a serious course

Surveys also show that the percentage of smokers in the German population has increased significantly since the start of the corona pandemic. Currently, about 34.5 percent of Germans aged 14 and over smoke: “This is a frightening development,” Wenker said. Prior to the pandemic, the number of smokers had decreased slightly since the 1980s.

Aid Organization: Most of the world has not met the Covid vaccination goal
The United Nations’ global crown vaccination campaign is in danger of failure. This is demonstrated by the statistics published by the humanitarian organization Oxfam and the international initiative “People’s Vaccine Alliance”. According to this, it has not yet been possible to vaccinate 70 percent of the world population against Covid-19. This was actually the stated goal of the World Health Organization. In about two thirds of all countries, less than half of the population has received basic immunization so far. The poorest countries are particularly affected. Meanwhile, in rich countries, the second or third booster vaccination would already be given. Organizations warn that it could take another two and a half years to reach the global vaccination target. Oxfam is working to suspend vaccine patents and reveal how vaccines are produced.

Another 17 people died from or from the corona virus.

RKI: 56,978 new coronary infections nationwide – incidence rises to 281.4
The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) estimated the seven-day incidence nationwide this morning at 281.4. Yesterday the value of new coronary infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week was 264.6 (previous week: 244.4; previous month: 282.2). German health authorities recently reported 56,978 new corona infections (yesterday: 56,715; previous week: 46,514) and 106 deaths (previous week: 230) to RKI in one day. Data comparisons are only possible to a limited extent due to test behavior, late registrations and transmission problems.
Note on current data: The incidence values do not provide a complete picture of the infectious situation. Experts assume a large number of cases not registered by RKI, mainly because not all infected people have performed a PCR test. However, only positive PCR tests are included in the official statistics. Furthermore, delayed recordings or transmission problems can lead to a distortion of individual daily values. In general, the number of new infections recorded varies significantly from weekday to weekday, as many federal states do not report them to RKI, especially on weekends, and report their cases throughout the week.

The Court of Justice deals with data protection in school lessons via videoconferencing
The European Court of Justice (CJEU) today deals with data protection in school lessons via videoconferencing. During the closure of schools in Germany in the early days of the corona pandemic, lectures were given live on the Internet in many places. Regarding data protection, it is a question of whether not only the parents but also the teacher should accept such lessons. The Administrative Court of Wiesbaden asked the Court of Justice whether the Hessian data protection law is compatible with European law.
