Wangerooge cut off – Corona lockdown helps
The island of Wangerooge has been cut off from the mainland since the onset of massive winter, and food is brought in by plane. In this situation, the island will benefit from the corona lockdown, said island mayor Marcel Fangohr. Because without lockdown “all the carnival refugees” would be on the island, instead of 1,300 there could be up to 3,500 people on Wangerooge. Then certain foods could become scarce even faster. He also expects the weather to relax in the coming week. The mood on the island was “very relaxed,” said Fangohr: “We are a bit used to it here on the island, every five to six years we have the case that the island is cut off from the mainland for several days.”

Vorpommern-Greifswald: District Administrator Sack must remain in quarantine
The district administrator of Vorpommern-Greifswald reacted calmly to not being able to shorten its corona quarantine due to stricter regulation. With a view to a corresponding general decree, Michael Sack (CDU) said: “I signed it in the morning and it met me in the evening.” The regulation, which came into force at the beginning of the week, prohibits the district from shortening the quarantine with the help of a negative corona test. “It’s sometimes like that in life,” said the CDU top candidate. On Wednesday it became known that Sack had been in quarantine since Tuesday due to a corona infection in the family. He himself has tested negative for the coronavirus. According to the new regulation, Sack, who is also the CDU state chairman, has to remain in domestic isolation for 14 days.

New rules for Lower Saxony come into force
From today, some easing of the corona requirements will apply in Lower Saxony. For example, it is possible again to buy flowers from a florist or in a garden center. In addition, children up to the age of six are no longer included in the contact restrictions. So far, this exception only applied to toddlers up to three years of age. In addition, professional carpools can sit together in the car again – if all passengers wear masks. Most of the other lockdowns have been extended to March 7th.
The crisis team has presented the country’s Corona regulations, which will apply from Saturday. The easing is manageable. more
