Austria: Further easing of corona measures protected

Austria has further relaxed the corona protection measures: From today on there is no longer a general obligation to wear masks indoors. The regulations have also been dropped in cable cars or excursion boats. However, mouth and nose protection is still recommended there. FFP2 masks must continue to be worn in supermarkets, public transport, offices, banks, hospitals and nursing homes. In addition, anyone can go back to clubs, bars and major events without proof of vaccination or recovery.

No figures sent to the RKI: Incidence value in Lower Saxony is falling

Since the state of Lower Saxony no longer transmits current corona numbers to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on public holidays and weekends, the seven-day incidence on the long Easter weekend “cannot be meaningfully interpreted,” said a spokesman for the Lower Saxony state health office . Despite the lack of new infection numbers, the RKI still states the seven-day incidence today – at 1,108.2. For comparison: yesterday, when 19,749 new corona cases were reported, the value was 1,327.3. Last Saturday it was 1,387.6.

Easter bonfires are allowed to burn again in many places in the north

Because of the Corona situation, many Easter fires in northern Germany had been canceled or banned in the past two years. After the protective measures have now been relaxed and in some cases even largely lifted, many fires will be allowed to burn again this Easter weekend. However, regulations of the cities and municipalities as well as hygiene regulations must be observed. An overview of the northern German federal states:

The number of corona test centers in Lower Saxony has fallen slightly

The number of corona test centers in Lower Saxony has only fallen slightly in the past few weeks – despite relaxed pandemic rules. According to the State Health Office, 4,415 test centers were active nationwide as of April 12, the Ministry of Health announced. In mid-January there were 4,085 centers, in mid-February their number rose to 4,400 and in mid-March to 4,536. However, due to the abolition of the 2G and 3G regulations, the ministry expects the number of centers to continue to fall. The Lower Saxony Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians also assumes that the numbers will fall – especially if the free quick tests are no longer available at the end of June. Health Minister Daniela Behrens (SPD) appealed to citizens to continue to be tested regularly for the time being: “The citizen tests give us extra security. After the abolition of the 2G and 3G regulations, test offers are now all the more important.” The tests are important and correct – for example “before visiting the grandparents, meeting friends or for self-control after events. Testing is now part of safe everyday life.”

RKI: 37,568 new corona cases registered nationwide – incidence at 876.5

For the first time since the end of January, the nationwide seven-day incidence is below 1,000. The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) gave the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants and week this morning at 876.5. Yesterday the value was 1,001.5, last Saturday it was 1,141.8 (previous month: 1,607.1). The health authorities in Germany reported 37,568 new corona infections to the RKI within one day (previous day: 156,864 / previous week: 150,675). According to the information, 29 further deaths in connection with Covid 19 diseases were recorded across Germany within 24 hours. The number of people who have died from or with Corona since the beginning of the pandemic rose to 132,929.

For all values, it must be taken into account that individual countries do not report data on every day of the week, on weekends and public holidays, for example Lower Saxony, Baden-Württemberg, Brandenburg and Saxony not or not completely. This in turn leads to late registrations on the following days. In addition, experts have been assuming for some time that there will be a large number of cases not recorded by the RKI – due to overworked health authorities and because not all infected people have a PCR test done. Only these count in the statistics.

SH: Corona incidence in Schleswig-Holstein at 1,014.9

The corona incidence in Schleswig-Holstein has fallen to 1,014.9. This comes from the data of the state registration office. The day before, the number of new infections registered per 100,000 inhabitants was 1,154.7 within seven days. The number of new infections reported was only 1,163 – after 7,020 the day before. With all figures it should be noted that the health authorities only work to a limited extent on weekends and public holidays. Therefore, there may be an increased underrecording of cases.
