Almost 23,000 new corona infections nationwide

The health authorities reported 22,924 new corona infections to the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) within 24 hours. In addition, 553 new deaths were recorded, as the RKI announced. It is difficult to interpret the data at the moment because fewer people were tested during the Christmas holidays and at the turn of the year, and not all offices may have submitted their data. According to the RKI, this can lead to late registrations. A week ago, 25,533 new corona infections and 412 deaths were registered nationwide within 24 hours.

340 new corona cases reported in Schleswig-Holstein

In Schleswig-Holstein, the number of reported new infections rose by 340. The previous day there were 528, the previous week 306. The number of people who died with an infection rose by two to 427. In the hospitals of Schleswig-Holstein, 346 Covid-19 patients are currently being treated, 24 more than the previous day had been specified. 66 of the patients are in an intensive care unit.

Fear of the New Year’s rush: appeal to Harz visitors

District, municipalities, police and Harz Tourism Association fear that many people could be drawn to the Harz for the New Year. However, this is not desirable because of the risk of infection. We therefore ask you to refrain from day trips. In many places there had been “worrying conditions” in the past few days, because distances could not be maintained due to the large number of guests.
