Corona news: 24 infected people died within one day in Thuringia

Wartburg district | Corona outbreaks in nursing homes

There are new corona outbreaks in two nursing homes in the Wartburg district. According to the health department, 19 people tested positive in a home in Vacha. There should also be at least four cases in a home in Wutha-Farnroda. A day care facility in Eisenach with four infected people is also affected.

Weimar | Klinikum loosens visitor rules for Christmas

The Sophien- und Hufeland Klinikum in Weimar wants to enable patients to visit on Christmas days. As the hospital announced, however, strict access and security rules apply. From Thursday, patients can receive visitors – but only from one and the same person for the entire period of their stay. When entering the clinic, visitors must do a rapid corona test and wear mouth and nose protection in the house.

As managing director Tomas Kallenbach announced, the employees of the clinic receive a corona bonus of up to 600 euros – depending on the extent of the employment. From the cleaning staff to the chief doctor, everyone had earned the money for their work, said Kallenbach.

Thuringia | Anti-Semitism in chats from critics of the editions

According to a report, anti-Jewish conspiracy theories are sometimes openly shared among opponents of the state’s corona policy in Thuringia. Corresponding content could be found in a Thuringian chat group. This emerges from the report published on Tuesday by the Thuringian anti-Semitism commissioner.

Both on the street in “Corona demos” and online, only a small proportion of the participants are openly right-wing extremists. “Since their apparently anti-Semitic and misanthropic statements remain unchallenged within the protest groups, it is to be feared that they will get used to right-wing extremist and anti-Semitic ideas,” the report says.

Cities criticize rules for emergency care

The Thuringian rules for emergency care in schools and kindergartens are causing severe criticism in cities and communities. The head of the youth and education department of the city of Jena, Christine Wolfer, said that it will probably not be possible to adhere to hygiene concepts and to strictly separate groups. From December 16, all Thuringian students should study at home.
