The cabinet will decide in the coming days whether there will be another press conference on Friday, in which it may be announced that the corona rules will be tightened again. A part of the ‘core team’ of the cabinet had already met on Monday, and the mayors will be updated in the Security Council on Thursday afternoon.
On Wednesday morning, outgoing ministers Hugo de Jonge (Healthcare) and Ferd Grapperhaus (Justice) will meet together with Prime Minister Mark Rutte. On Wednesday afternoon, members of the Outbreak Management Team (OMT), which will advise the cabinet on any new corona measures later in the day. On Thursday, the most involved ministers will meet again at the Catshuis.
During this ‘formal’ consultation, Jaap van Dissel of the RIVM will again give a presentation, after which the cabinet members will discuss the situation. Whether new measures will be introduced will depend, among other things, on whether the behavior of the Dutch has changed. For example, the cabinet wants to see whether people travel less within the Netherlands.
The mayors who chair the security regions will consult digitally with Grapperhaus on Thursday afternoon. It is expected that on that day it will be announced whether a press conference will take place on Friday evening. Another meeting between ministers will take place on Friday. The decisions will be officially taken here, although much will already have been discussed in the Catshuis. The press conference will take place in the evening, if so decided.
