Northwest particularly affected?

A focus of the corona mutations could be in the northwest of the country. In the district of Cloppenburg, ten people have so far been affected by the variant of the virus, which is considered particularly contagious. Three of the 210 detected infections at the ice cream manufacturer Froneri in Osnabrück can also be attributed to the much more contagious British mutation B.1.1.7. In the Diepholz district, eleven Covid-19 mutations were found in random samples last week. According to information from NDR 1 Lower Saxony, there are also positive results in the districts of Emsland, Aurich, Leer, Ammerland, Wittmund, Friesland as well as Oldenburg and Göttingen. Only on Wednesday were two corona mutations discovered in a company in Bremervörde.

The reporting system is under construction

The NLGA was unable to say on Thursday how widespread the corona mutations are in Lower Saxony from region to region. A uniform reporting system for collecting the data is in preparation, according to a spokesman. The software is provided by the Robert Koch Institute.
