The British variant of the corona virus has reappeared in Baden-Württemberg. The Ministry of Health reports two new cases. A couple from the Ortenau district is affected.
A test of the woman was positive for the virus variant on Wednesday. She had apparently been infected from her partner, who fell ill after a business trip to the UK in December.
Since the woman had already tested positive for Corona before Christmas, the close contacts had already been released from quarantine. The health authorities have now arranged for the close contacts to be tested again in order to minimize the risk of spread.
The virus variant was first detected in Germany on Christmas Eve – also in Baden-Württemberg. In the meantime, variant B.1.1.7 has also appeared in patients in Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia. According to scientists, it is significantly more contagious than the previously known version.
