An overview
Austria-wide framework: 3-G has been in effect in the workplace since this week. This means that anyone who wants to legally enter their place of work has to be vaccinated, recovered or tested. The 3-G rule also applies in gastronomy, in leisure and service companies, art and cultural institutions. The test is compulsory from 12 years of age. Antigen tests are valid for 24 hours (including living room self-tests), PCR tests for 72 hours. In supermarkets, bakeries and pharmacies, FFP2 masks are mandatory for all customers.
Wien: The 2.5 G rule applies in restaurants, leisure and service businesses – i.e. vaccinated, recovered or PCR-tested. A test is compulsory from the age of six. In every branch of the trade there is an FFP2 mask requirement. When going to the cinema or at other events with up to 500 participants, at least mouth and nose protection must be worn in addition to the 2.5 G proof. If there are more than 500 visitors and in the night restaurant, 2-G applies.
Salzburg: You have to wear an FFP2 mask in the whole trade and with body-hugging service providers.
Carinthia, Upper Austria, Lower Austria: From November 8th, the 2-G rule will apply in night restaurants and at major events. In all retail sectors, in libraries and in museums, you have to wear an FFP2 mask again. In Carinthia, these rules take effect from Thursday.
Styria, Tyrol: Here, too, the FFP2 mask will return to all retailers from November 8th. For employees in health professions, the 2.5-G rule applies instead of the 3-G rule, as does for visitors to hospitals or retirement homes. From November 8th, living room rapid tests will no longer be accepted in Styria.
