Corona law passed by the House of Representatives, in much weaker form – De Daily Standaard

The corona law has been passed by a large majority by the House of Representatives. Fortunately, it is no longer the dictatorial monstrosity that it used to be, but it has now been toned down. It is still not nice, but it is really much better now.
Large majority votes in favor
The coalition parties VVD, CDA, D66 and the ChristenUnie (except for Joël Voordewind (CU)) voted in favor of the law and received support from the PvdA, GroenLinks, 50Plus and SGP. It also seems that support from the Senate will no longer be a major obstacle. The SP voted against because they wanted to give not only the House of Representatives but also the Senate a greater role. The Party for the Animals insisted on closing down all mink farms, so they didn’t want to support the law (lol). And the PVV and Forum still find the law disproportionate.

That the law is there at all is far from ideal. But one of the biggest ‘advantages’ now is that the law obliges the cabinet to make cabinet decisions first to go to the House of Representatives for approval. Minister De Jonge can deviate from this “in case of acute danger”, but then runs the risk that his decision will be reversed by the Lower House after a week.

Furthermore, the corona law will no longer apply for one year (first version) or six months (second version), but only for three months. Parliament therefore has to agree to the law again from time to time in order to be able to renew it for another three months. The fine for not handling the meter and a half is set at 95 euros, and the corona law guarantees the right for residents of nursing homes to at least one visitor.
