As soon as possible – even better on Saturday than on Sunday – the Prime Ministers should agree on nationwide measures with Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU), said Laschet, “so that there is clarity”.
Shops that do not offer everyday necessities should “as soon as possible” to be closed until January 10th. The Greens called for such shops to be closed on Monday and a firecracker sales ban before New Year’s Eve.
No more attendance at schools
The compulsory attendance at schools in North Rhine-Westphalia will be lifted on Monday. For pupils in grades 1 to 7 there will be classes, according to Laschet, whereby parents can exempt their children from being present. Students from grade 8 should stay at home and are taught at a distance. The holidays will be extended to January 7th and 8th.
“Finally“Laschet prevailed over school minister Yvonne Gebauer (FDP) on the subject of compulsory attendance,” said Green Party leader Josefine Paul. The state government must now finally present a plan for the next few months.
