Air Antwerp stops. The airline that flew between Antwerp and London has been sickened by corona and is being dissolved. Due to the corona virus, the airline has hardly been able to fly between Antwerp and London City Airport since March last year, except for a short period in the autumn of 2020.
Tourism is gradually picking up, but the prognosis for business travel, the core business of society, is not so good. “Therefore, the board of directors of Air Antwerp has decided to completely cease the operational activities of the regional airline and to dissolve the company,” the spokesperson said in a written statement.
The contracts of the nine employees, who were mostly temporarily unemployed during the corona crisis, are being terminated. Air Antwerp was founded in 2019 by the Irish CityJet and the Dutch KLM. In the meantime, KLM was still the sole shareholder.
