The corona pandemic had already ensured that the Karl May Games in Bad Segeberg could not take place last year. They are also canceled this year.
The play “Der Ölprinz” will be postponed for another year to 2022, as the organizers announced today. “We had hoped that Winnetou could return this summer, but unfortunately that is not possible,” said managing director Ute Thienel. “The risk would simply be too great.” The changeable and dynamic Corona events do not allow responsible planning for an event of this type and size, Thienel justified the decision. Those who already have tickets for the season can rebook them for the coming year, according to the organizers. The conversion into a voucher valid for three years is also possible. If you want, you can get the purchase price refunded.
Klaws, Hehn and Karrenbauer will also start in 2022
The premiere for the piece should now be on June 25, 2022 at 8.30 p.m. All three main actors will keep their roles: Alexander Klaws remains in the saddle as Winnetou and the guest stars Sascha Hehn as Oil Prince and Katy Karrenbauer as Rosalie Ebersbach are also there. The Karl May season should then run until September 4, 2022. Despite all the disappointment, Sascha Hehn is now looking forward to 2022: “It’s time for the oil prince at Kalkberg to finally get on stage.”
Katy Karrenbauer would have liked to be with the fans at the Kalkberg this year, “but unfortunately the circumstances do not allow it”. Alexander Klaws would have loved to play for the fans. “But the way things are, it’s not possible. It’s totally frustrating because we have to announce bad news that we can’t do anything for,” he said.
