SCHIEDAM – The spread of the Coronavirus in Schiedam continues unabated. More infections with the virus are reported today than ever before.
The RIVM states that in the past 24 hours Schiedammers received the results of 95 positive Corona tests. That is considerably more than yesterday, when 78 infections were reported. On Thursday, 89 positive tests were reported, the highest number to date.
In the past week, 559 inhabitants of Schiedam were tested positive. In comparison with other municipalities, this means a number of 708 infections per hundred thousand inhabitants of Schiedam.
Throughout the Netherlands, the development nevertheless indicates a downward trend. The RIVM today reports 8,740 people who tested positive for Corona, while in the past week the number was invariably above ten thousand. The number of reported hospital admissions due to Covid-19 was 237, some eighty fewer than yesterday. 58 people ended up in intensive care, where there were 76 yesterday. In the past 24 hours, the corona contamination led to 39 people dead.
