The United States is still the country with the highest number of cases and deaths from Covid-19. As many as 19 percent of all Covid-19 cases are in the US. The death toll is 14 percent of the global total, according to a Reuters tally. Globally, the pandemic is expected to surpass 5 million deaths.
The highly contagious Delta variant has driven a surge in coronavirus cases that peaked in America in September. The number of COVID-19 cases per day in the past week has actually decreased by around 117,625 per day. But that number is still high. According to infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci, Covid-19 cases must be below 10,000 per day to end the health crisis.
In the midst of high cases of the corona virus, United States of America is being boosted giving booster injections. President Joe Biden received a booster shot last Monday. He hopes Americans can follow the example.
About 56 percent of the US population has been fully vaccinated, with about 65 percent receiving at least one dose, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
