In numerous cities in Hesse, people took to the streets on Monday evening to demonstrate against the current Corona measures – including in the Main-Kinzig district. There were incidents in Fulda.

Fulda / Main-Kinzig-Kreis – In the Corona hotspot Fulda the police disbanded an unregistered gathering of opponents of the current corona measures on Monday evening. A police spokesman said a meeting participant attacked the emergency services. The officers used pepper spray and the person was arrested.

According to the police, the gathering was broken up because no masks were worn and no distances were observed. In addition, there was no leader of the meeting. At the peak, around 1000 people took part in the elevator, as the police announced on Monday evening.

In other cities in Hesse, too, people took to the streets in the evening to demonstrate against the Corona measures – for example in Frankfurt, Kassel or Gießen. According to police spokespersons, the meetings were partly registered and partly not. Around 100 people were on the move in Frankfurt, it was initially peaceful, said a police spokesman. Numerous people also took part in the so-called Monday walks in the Main-Kinzig district and Offenbach. As the police headquarters in Southeast Hesse reported, around 2200 people were counted at a total of 19 events. In many places, the police used loudspeaker announcements to point out the existing Corona regulations, among other things.

Overall, the actions were peaceful and without any special incidents. Disturbances were not found. Only two of these gatherings were registered as gatherings. In Hanau, around 50 people came together for a registered vigil.

People in Schlüchtern demonstrate against corona rules

In the Main-Kinzig district there were also eight non-registered events with around 1,100 participants – in Bad Orb, Bruchköbel, Gelnhausen, Langenselbold, Maintal-Hochstadt, Nidderau, Schlüchtern and Steinau an der Straße. About 200 people took part in Schlüchtern, the police said.

In the city of Offenbach, too, around 80 participants walked peacefully in the city center. In addition, the police in the Offenbach district accompanied unregistered events in Obertshausen, Mühlheim am Main, Dietzenbach, Jügesheim, Seligenstadt, Dreieichenhain, Sprendlingen and Langen.
