237 new corona cases were reported in the country within 24 hours (data status August 13). 40 people who tested positive for Corona are treated in the hospital.
The number of people in Schleswig-Holstein who have demonstrably been infected with the corona virus since the beginning of the pandemic is now 67,880. According to an estimate by the RKI, around 63,700 Schleswig-Holsteiners are considered recovered. According to the current State registration office statistics No new death was reported in connection with the viral disease Covid-19 – the total number is 1,641. The seven-day incidence is now 47.7 (previous day: 47.8). On Friday a week ago it was 39.2.

The Robert Koch Institute (RKI) usually updates its data in the morning, but sometimes not until the afternoon – the national figures are usually published the evening before. Due to the delay in reporting, the RKI values generally do not correspond to the infection rate, but are too low. As a second number, we therefore give an estimate of how high the seven-day incidence could be without delay in reporting. This value comes closer to the actual development of the pandemic. Kiel continues with the highest incidence – further over 100
Kiel has the highest seven-day incidence with 100.1 (previous day: 106.2). This is followed by the cities of Flensburg with 98.7 (previous day: 89.8) and Neumünster with 76.1 (previous day: 72.3). The lowest value is in the Ostholstein district with 14.5 (previous day: 15.5) followed by Rendsburg-Eckernförde with 31.0 (previous day: 32.1).

People in Schleswig-Holstein have been vaccinated against the coronavirus since December 27, 2020. The vaccination quota shows what percentage of northern Germans have already received the first vaccination dose.

40 people who tested positive for Corona are currently being treated in the country’s hospitals – 5 fewer than the day before. 16 of the Covid patients are in intensive therapy (+4), 10 have to be ventilated (+2).
What these numbers say – and what not
The state government’s statistics show how many confirmed corona infections are known to the authorities in the country and have been reported in the intended way. What the statistics cannot clearly show, let alone the current day, is the speed at which the virus is spreading. Because the number of people who have newly tested positive usually also includes post-reported cases from several days. There are delays in the reporting chain, especially around weekends and public holidays.
