APELDOORN –
There is an outbreak of the corona virus at the Veldhuis residential care center in Apeldoorn. That has cost one person so far. Other residents of the residential care center have also tested positive for the virus.

The first suspicion was on March 19. The resident concerned was then hospitalized and died last Saturday. Three other residents tested positive and also ended up in the hospital.
Close contact
Twelve people are closely monitored by the care staff because they have complaints that indicate infection with the coronavirus. There is ‘close contact with the GPs about this’, says a spokesperson.
In a response from care organization KleinGeluk, which includes Veldhuis, it can be read that the residents are currently being cared for and nursed according to a special protocol. This includes strict hygiene guidelines and (personal) protective equipment.
Just opened
Residents stay in their apartment until the protocol is lifted. The neighborhood rooms and relaxation areas are closed and visitors cannot enter Veldhuis. The location has only been open for more than a month. The official opening was on March 2.
KleinGeluk has set up a crisis committee in response to the corona infections. People can turn to their questions and the organization says to communicate actively to all involved.
