Since February 22nd, many children have been able to go to daycare centers and after-school care centers, most of them are in regular Corona operation. In circles with a high incidence, emergency care has so far remained. That should change from March 1st.
Daycare centers, crèches and after-school care centers should then go into restricted regular operation there, initially for a week. The country announced this on Tuesday evening. The city of Flensburg and the surrounding communities remain exceptions – here the previous mode remains: emergency care. The district of Schleswig-Flensburg has yet to determine which surrounding municipalities will proceed in the same way.
What restricted regular operation means
In the affected areas, the daycare centers, crèches and after-school care centers are now a little more open: Children whose parents are both employed are now allowed to come to the facilities, unless care is otherwise guaranteed – in addition to the children who have already been in emergency care because one parent works in an occupation that the state government has classified as systemically relevant.
Where more children are looked after again
From March 1st to 7th, daycare centers and after-school care centers will be in restricted regular operation in the following regions:
- Schleswig-Flensburg (excluding the Flensburg suburbs)
- District of the Duchy of Lauenburg
- Pinneberg district
- City of Lübeck
Until March 1st, emergency care will remain as before in the above-mentioned districts and urban districts.
Most of the children are being looked after again
In the other districts in Schleswig-Holstein, the restricted regular operation has been in place since February 22nd. The bans on entering the facilities are lifted and the children are looked after in normal group sizes again. Education Minister Karin Prien (CDU) announced a similar approach on Monday for primary schools in the areas.
