Corona in Munich: Omicron variant was discovered in wastewater – Munich

The Corona variant Omikron can now be detected in Munich wastewater. On December 7th and 10th, the research team headed by the Tropical Institute at the LMU-Klinikum took water samples at six locations. Five of them are positive, as Andreas Wieser, specialist in medical microbiology and hospital hygiene, confirmed on Monday. “This is not a coincidence, but systematic and worrying,” said Wieser.

Omikron has now been washed into the population. He hoped this would only happen later. “Now the whole thing can no longer be stopped and it will really hit us at Christmas and beyond.”

Also on Monday, the city reported that the vaccinations would have to be changed: Due to delivery restrictions, the allocation of the Biontech vaccine will be allocated from Wednesday. For over-30s, it is said, Moderna is used for initial and booster vaccinations – with the exception of pregnant women and breastfeeding women.
