The Frankfurt club scene has great problems staying afloat during the corona pandemic – but is also receiving support.
Frankfurt – The Corona lockdown in Hesse continues to push various businesses from the catering, retail and event scene to their limits. Particularly affected: the Frankfurt club scene. How the future of event rooms will look is still unclear.
Clubs in Frankfurt: Organizers face many challenges
“The situation is unpredictable,” said Klaus Bossart from the Initiative Clubs am Main. “The hibernation is here, the clubs have been closed for months and our colleagues have adjusted to the fact that it will take a little longer.” Bossart, who works at Tanzhaus West in Frankfurt, expects the first events in spring or early summer. Then, when the temperatures allow it again, the first outdoor parties are possible again. “Of course that always depends on the latest developments,” he says, limiting his assessment.
But other challenges also push the scene to its limits. Live events are often planned together with international productions, which makes organization even more difficult. In addition, the number of visitors is in all likelihood initially limited, and the audience must also be won back.
Clubs in Frankfurt receive support
Nevertheless, the support from club and concert goers is high. Concert tickets have been sold for the coming year, as Bossart explains. “That is of course less than usual, but more than one would have expected.” The support is also noticeable in solidarity campaigns.
The “Clubs am Main” initiative represents the interests of around 30 clubs in and around Frankfurt. The network plans to expand and expand its territory to all of Hesse. “It was especially in these difficult times that we realized how important the exchange and networking are,” said Bossart. With a broader network, one can find a greater hearing in state politics in Wiesbaden.
Robert Johnson founder Ata Macias is also worried. His club only wants to reopen when it is possible to celebrate safely again. (speak with dpa)
