Corona in Bavaria: Söder on the situation of the students – Bavaria

Söder: Students shouldn’t be seen as a “lost generation”

Monday, May 24th, 10:36 am: The CSU chairman Markus Söder does not want to assess the situation of the students in the corona pandemic too negatively. “We mustn’t persuade the students that they are a lost generation,” Söder told the newspapers of the Funke media group (Monday). “For example, I don’t think the Abitur will be any worse this year.” The challenge lies with the younger generation and with the schoolchildren from poorly educated families. Special educational programs will be offered for them, for example in the form of summer schools. “Maybe we also have to adapt the curricula and go unconventional. But that can be done well,” said Söder.

1000 soldiers are deployed against Corona in Bavaria

Monday, May 24th, 7.45 a.m .: Around 1,000 Bundeswehr soldiers are currently deployed in Bavaria to fight the corona virus. Almost half will be used to trace the contacts of infected people, said a spokesman for the state command in Bavaria. 80 of them are helping in Munich alone. For comparison: about a year ago – shortly after the start of the pandemic – about 200 soldiers were deployed to Corona in the Free State.

In addition to primarily logistical support in old people’s and nursing homes, the soldiers help with the operation of corona test stations or with advice in the medical field. Most recently, the Bundeswehr provided assistance with vaccinations in Hof in Upper Franconia.

In certain cases, the Bundeswehr may be deployed within Germany. It is true that the districts and urban districts are initially responsible for disaster control and health care in this country. But if they are overwhelmed, they can ask for administrative assistance and also contact the Bundeswehr. It is unclear when the corona support for the soldiers will end. “The period of deployment depends on when the civil authorities and agencies will submit requests for assistance on the basis of subsidiarity,” it said. There are currently over 100 applications.

At the beginning of the pandemic, around 15,000 soldiers were standing by nationwide to support the civil authorities in an emergency. Defense Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer (CDU) increased the number of soldiers to up to 25,000 as part of the third wave of infections in the pandemic.

59.2 – Incidence in Free State continues to decline

Monday, May 24th, 7:12 am: The seven-day incidence in the Free State has fallen again, the Robert Koch Institute reports 508 new infections and a value of 59.2 on the night of Whit Monday – on Sunday it was still 62.6. The number of cases reported is usually lower on Sundays and public holidays, partly because fewer tests are then carried out. The incidence value is currently highest in the city of Memmingen – across Germany, where it is 238.1.

Police break up the party in downtown Erdingen

Sunday, May 23, 12.35 pm: 150 people celebrated an “open air party” in downtown Erding on Saturday, the police headquarters in Upper Bavaria North announced on Sunday. At around 10:40 p.m., the officials were informed about the loud celebration. On the “Small Square” the emergency services would have met around 150 people. Occasionally, bottles or other objects were thrown. The police ended the party and most of the participants complied with the request, according to a press release. The personal details of twelve people were determined. In addition to investigations into disturbance of the peace, the Erdinger police are also investigating violations of the Infection Protection Act.

Incidence in the Free State is falling slightly

Sunday, May 23, 8:35 p.m. The seven-day incidence in the Free State has fallen slightly again, the Robert Koch Institute reports 1,107 new infections and a value of 62.6 in the night of Sunday. The incidence value is currently highest in the city of Memmingen – across Germany, where it is 238.1. After all, it is currently the only municipality that is above the 200 mark. 13 cities and districts are still in the hotspot area above the 100 limit.

If a municipality is stable below 100, many corona measures can be relaxed. The next relevant value in the so-called phased plan of the Bavarian state government is then 50. And if the incidence is stable below 35, the restrictions are practically lifted. 16 municipalities are currently below this threshold, whether the easing is already taking effect depends on how long the value has been stable.
