Munich – 2G should soon apply everywhere in public life in Bavaria. Prime Minister Markus Söder announced: “We will propose this to our coalition partner. 2G where possible. “
Means: The MP wants to introduce blanket access bans for unvaccinated people in the fight against the galloping numbers of infections.
The background to this is the dramatic development of the corona pandemic. “We have exponential growth,” said Söder after a meeting in the State Chancellery with clinic bosses and doctors.
Söder: “The hospitals are full. You are at the maximum at the limit and extremely emotionally challenged. ”After the disaster is declared, Bavaria will activate all free beds in hospitals. The Free State wants to pay a flat fee of 300 euros to the clinics. “We will also set up nursing pools.”
“We need a compulsory vaccination for certain professional groups,” explained Söder. This primarily refers to nursing staff in hospitals and homes.
►What Söder and Health Minister Klaus Holetschek (56, CSU) absolutely want is a 2G obligation in as many areas as possible. That could already be discussed with the coalition partner, the Free Voters, next week.
That would especially apply to the catering industry. “2G + could also apply in discos and clubs,” said Söder. Means: In addition to vaccination, rapid tests should also be offered.
The state government wants to bring about a decision on Christmas markets at a prime ministerial conference next week. Söder does not want to refuse. “The minimum is a mask,” he said. “I can’t imagine the beginning of the carnival without a mask either.”
For better protection against breakthroughs in the vaccination, Söder would like the so-called booster vaccinations already after five months. You can see from the experience with booster vaccinations in Israel “that boosters have brought relief”.
Stiko member wants “lockdown for everyone” as an “emergency switch”
While Söder “only” speaks of a lockdown for unvaccinated people so far, a member of the Standing Vaccination Commission (Stiko) has brought a “lockdown for everyone” into play in the event of an even more dramatic corona situation.
When asked whether he saw another lockdown for Germany, Klaus Überla told the “Nürnberger Nachrichten” and the “Nürnberger Zeitung” on Thursday: “We need an emergency switch if the intensive care units should really collapse. That can be a lockdown ”. Because he does not know whether 2G alone is sufficient, explained the director of the Virological Institute at the University Hospital Erlangen and member of the Stiko at the Robert Koch Institute.
Ultimately, the least stressful thing is to apply the emergency switch very briefly and very violently, so Überla. The “lockdown for everyone” should take effect “both at work and in private” in the worst-case scenario.
Saxony and Berlin are already cracking down on 2G
The state of Saxony is a pioneer in 2G. Since the beginning of the week, the Free State has been the first country to use the rule comprehensively against the rapidly increasing corona numbers.
In Berlin, extensive 2G rules will apply from Monday, as the Senate decided on Wednesday. Then only those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered have access to restaurants, cinemas, theaters, museums or galleries, for example, and a negative test is no longer enough.
