Rapid easing in the corona pandemic according to experts, could endanger the residents of retirement and nursing homes. “The course of the pandemic is not yet so positive that protection and security can simply be relaxed or pushed aside,” said Vice President of the Nursing Employers’ Association, Friedhelm Fiedler, on Friday in Berlin. He warned that those who contract the coronavirus at a very old age and with previous illnesses are “playing with life”.
The staff can “only understand too well if the elderly in the care facilities want to see their daughter, their son, grandchildren or the relatives of their parents in need of care,” emphasized Fiedler. Those who get infected, however, endanger not only themselves, but also the caregivers. In this respect, easing the ban on visits or restricting exit is currently irresponsible. In addition, it is unclear who is responsible if something happens.-
