“Vegas” boss Waldis: “The canton of Zug is more generous and quicker than Lucerne”

While the Lucerne bars and restaurants can hope to open soon, the clubs will probably remain closed for a long time. What does this mean for operators, employees and guests?

Just dance again, in a large dark room, in front of huge boxes, shoulder to shoulder. It felt like ten years ago that this was possible. Corona has the nightlife on its conscience. Nobody knows yet when the clubs will be allowed to reopen. “Depending on the speed of the vaccination strategy, we expect it in summer or autumn,” says Philipp Waldis (39), operator of the Vegas Club in Kriens. This is one of the largest clubs in Switzerland, with a capacity of 1000 people. In the past twelve months, however, parties have rarely taken place here. After the first lockdown, the restaurant did not reopen until September – and by mid-October the stove was off again for official reasons.
