The number of corona infections continues to rise sharply. The total number of people who tested positive in our country has already risen to 148,981

Between September 30 and October 6, an average of 3,274.6 new corona infections were confirmed daily in Belgium, according to preliminary figures from the Sciensano health institute on Saturday. On Monday and Tuesday as well, 5,000 new cases were counted.
Yesterday, Sciensano reported ‘only’ an average of 2,915.9 over the seven days between September 29 and October 5. Today, it is an increase of 80 percent compared to the seven days before. That brings the total number of people who tested positive in our country to 148,981. Yesterday we were at 143,596
Some 10,151 people died of Covid-19 in Belgium. Between September 30 and October 6, an average of 13.4 people died from the virus every day.
Over the past week, more than 106 new patients were admitted to hospitals on average every day. Yesterday that average was 96.
According to the most recent figures, 1,188 hospital beds are occupied by Covid patients, of whom 212 require intensive care.
