The Hamburg Ohnsorg Theater hopes that it can reopen on June 6th. That said the theater director in an interview with the NDR Hamburg Journal.
“We are confident and excited that we will succeed in opening up,” said Lang. In the theater on Heidi-Kabel-Platz, directly at Hamburg’s main train station, the team is healthy and highly motivated, added the theater director. “Everyone is really excited to start now”. You absolutely want to raise a voice for art. That was missing in the many weeks of the closure. “We want to motivate and inspire and again offer the audience wonderful hours in the theater.”
First opening this year
Last year the Ohnsorg Theater was able to open for four months under strict safety and hygiene requirements. Only 100 of the 400 seats were allowed to be occupied by spectators. “That means we have enough distance between families and households,” said the theater director. In addition, it is compulsory to wear a mask in the foyer and the Ohnsorg Theater has a very modern ventilation system with an eightfold air exchange per hour: “Theaters are not places of infection”. The control of rapid tests is also feasible for the theater. The premiere will be with the two-person piece “Laat uns Frünnen blieven!” to be celebrated.
Senate still has to decide on opening steps
Like all other theaters in Hamburg, the Ohnsorg Theater has closed this year. Before it can reopen, the Hamburg Senate must decide this as part of the planned easing of the corona measures. The Senate has published a three-step plan for these easing, the first easing of which began on May 12. It has not yet been decided when exactly the third stage will come into force with the opening of the theaters subject to hygiene requirements. For levels two and three to come into force, the senate announced a period of 10 to 14 days.
