Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania relaxed the corona protective measures on Monday. Hairdressers, tree nurseries and garden centers, among others, are allowed to reopen.
For almost twelve weeks, the hairdressers, among other things, have been closed due to the corona. On Monday they – like tree nurseries and garden centers – were allowed to reopen in Mecklenburg Western Pomerania. This is a result of the last MV summit. In Rostock and in the Vorpommern-Rügen district, foot care, cosmetic and nail studios were also able to open, as the seven-day incidence there is already below 35. For all other regions, this easing will only apply in a week.

Many hairdressers were fully booked for weeks
High-risk areas with an incidence of more than 150 remain excluded. The Vorpommern-Greifswald district has been below this value for almost a week. He has to hold it for ten days in order to no longer count as a high-risk area. Nevertheless, hairdressers have also been allowed to open in the eastern district since Monday. However, as everywhere, only with an appointment and in compliance with the hygiene regulations. Ines Tietböhl, the state guild master for hairdressing and cosmetics, said the demand was particularly high in hairdressing salons. Many salons are booked out for weeks.
“Hardly any voices that believe the statements made by politics”
But the partial opening on Monday does not satisfy many. The District Administrator of Vorpommern-Rügen spoke out in favor of opening retail outlets throughout Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as quickly as possible. “This should not depend solely on the number of infections over the past seven days,” said Stefan Kerth (SPD). The trade has developed effective hygiene concepts, which need to be implemented consistently. The resumption of training in children’s and youth sports is also important, said Kerth. “Anyone who works or plays together in the morning at school and in the after-school care center should also be able to do sports in the afternoon under appropriate hygienic conditions.” The head of the Association of Business Associations for Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Sven Müller, urged further openings. “The mood in the industries affected by the lockdown shows how dramatic the situation on the ground is. There are hardly any voices left who believe the statements made by politicians,” he said. “It is no longer possible. We now need an opening scenario for March.”
Rostock district is lifting the compulsory attendance for younger students
In the Rostock district, however, due to the increased number of corona cases there, the partial school opening will be withdrawn after a few days. For grades one to six and the final grades, the compulsory attendance will be lifted from Monday. Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) has meanwhile announced that when the corona rules are relaxed, it will no longer just let the number of infections decide – but also include the utilization of hospitals and vaccination progress.
