The death toll from the Coronavirus in Argentina jumped to more than 20,000 on Thursday after adding a large number of previously unrecorded deaths to the total, showing how the country has transformed from a role model in the region to one of the most affected countries in the world.
And the South American country, which slowed the spread of the virus with strict public isolation measures in March, announced the registration of 14,001 new cases of the emerging corona virus, bringing the total confirmed infections to 76,5002, to be among the top 10 in the world.
And the Ministry of Health announced the addition of 3,352 deaths, most of them as a result of the accumulation of deaths in the province of Buenos Aires, bringing the total to 20,288 cases, with Argentina coming directly after Russia.
Argentina’s variable average daily infections and deaths have continued to rise for seven days even as the spread of the virus has slowed to other countries in the region in recent weeks as governments look to reopen their ailing economies.
