Number of victims who died as a result corona virus (Covid-19) of Italy already exceeded 100 thousand people.
This condition makes Italy one of the countries with the highest record of deaths from the corona virus after the United States, Brazil, Mexico, India, Russia and Britain.
Reported Reuters, Tuesday (9/3), the number of Covid-19 patients who died in Italy in the last 24 hours increased by 318 people. As a result, this condition has brought the total number of patients who have died from the corona virus in the country to reach 100,103 patients.
The Italian Prime Minister, Mario Draghi, warned residents to remain vigilant about the virus. He also said the current condition was getting worse because the number of Covid-19 patients being treated in hospitals had increased.
“The pandemic is not over, but with the acceleration of the vaccination program, it is hoped that it will end soon,” Draghi said.
According to the records of the Italian Ministry of Health, there are currently 687 new patients infected with the corona virus. Meanwhile, the number of Covid-19 patients who had to be treated intensively increased by 95, bringing the total number to 2,700.
The percentage of new cases of corona virus infection in Italy rose 23 percent last week. The country is currently facing a new wave of coronavirus infections after detecting a mutated variant of the virus from the UK.
The local government decided to implement a lockdown (lockdown) in three cities following the spread of the British variant of the corona virus.
Italian Health Minister Roberto Speranza announced that the three cities, Naples, Basilicata and Molise, will be lockdown starting Friday (12/3).
