Hospital staff in the south-west will no longer receive separate corona vaccination doses for the time being.

Stuttgart / Heidelberg – In view of a further large shortage of corona vaccines, the Baden-Württemberg state government is initially no longer providing separate vaccination doses for staff to the hospitals in the southwest. The decision was made “at this point in time not to give any more vaccines exclusively to the hospitals”, announced the State Ministry of Health on Saturday in Stuttgart on request.
Instead, they want to deliver new vaccination doses completely to the vaccination centers. “The vaccine is still in short supply and the vaccination doses made available in the country are planned for weeks in the vaccination centers,” it was said to justify.
Employees have to go to the vaccination center
Clinic employees who have not yet received a primary vaccination now have to go to vaccination centers to make appointments. The chief virologist at Heidelberg University Hospital, Hans-Georg Kräusslich, criticizes this approach. “We are not happy about it, and can not really understand it,” he told the “Rhein-Neckar-Zeitung” (Saturday). “For example, we would like to vaccinate the students in the clinical semester, as well as other employees. Now everyone has to register again at the vaccination center, where the exposure is already high. “
The Ministry of Health pointed out that the highest priority hospital staff were “already fully” vaccinated. In return, the first two deliveries of the Astrazeneca vaccine that the country received “almost completely” went to the hospitals. There were around 72,000 vaccine doses.
