The decision to close her shop Hut und Mode Weidacher was not an easy one for Renate Weidacher-Herzig. “We thought back and forth for a long time,” she admits. The traditional shop in the old town of Weiden has existed for over 130 years. With a heavy heart she decides to take this step. “There are purely operational reasons that we discussed in the family,” says the owner. It was originally planned that daughter Eva would take over the business in the fourth generation. But nothing will come of it now. Eva Herzig, who studied Marketing and Business at the OTH, is currently working in the fashion industry in Erlangen.
Hut und Mode Weidacher had made a name for itself in recent years with festive clothing for dance course graduation and high school balls. Since these events are not possible until further notice, this branch broke down completely. The corona crisis hit the family business very hard. The internet also made life difficult for the store. “Everything is changing so quickly that we cannot keep up,” regrets Weidacher-Herzig. Eva Herzig is calm and does not rule out the option of reviving the fashion business at some point.
