Deployment corona virus from Russia continue to rage. Russian authorities on Thursday (14/10) local time reported a record number of daily infection cases and deaths over the past 24 hours. The record high during this pandemic comes at a time when the country’s vaccination efforts have been slow and few restrictions have been put in place.
As reported by the news agency AFP, Friday (15/10/2021), authority Russia recorded 31,299 new cases COVID-19 and 986 related deaths corona virus over the past 24 hours, bringing Russia’s total death toll to 220,315 – the highest death toll in Europe.
The soaring outbreak comes at a time when only 31 percent of Russians are fully vaccinated, according to the Gogov website, which calculates the data. COVID-19 from Russian territories.
The lack of strict restrictions has allowed the virus to spread, although some areas have reinstated QR codes for access to public places.
Government Russia has balked at reintroducing sweeping restrictions, though admits the country’s low vaccination rate is “unacceptable”. This week, the Russian government has said that authorities must ensure “the economy continues to work.”
On Thursday (14/10) local time, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov once again ruled out a lockdown, saying authorities should “continue to explain to people the need to be vaccinated”.
“It’s irresponsible not to get the vaccine,” he told reporters.
But Peskov added that Russia’s healthcare system is ready to deal with a surge in patients COVID-19, saying that the hospital was not “overwhelmed”.
“The entire medical infrastructure is mobilized,” he said.
Independent polls show that more than half of Russians do not plan to be vaccinated.
