Fjord, Stad and Sarpsborg municipalities stand out on the infection pressure map, but now there is good news.
OSLO (Nettavisen): – We believe we have a good overview and control now, but there may be some more cases of infection in the tests we are waiting for answers to, says Fjord mayor Eva Hove (Labor) to Nettavisen on Wednesday.
Last Wednesday, the infection alarm went off in the municipality, and since then there has been extensive testing, infection tracking and quarantine. One school was closed, others were kept at a red level and the kindergartens closed before the palm weekend. Otherwise, the municipality has followed the national guidelines.
Fjord municipality (Møre og Romsdal) and Stad (Vestland) and the Viken municipality Sarpsborg have in recent weeks had the highest infection pressure in Norway, according to figures from the Emergency Management Agency in Oslo and the National Institute of Public Health (as of 30 March).
With 26 new cases of infection in the last 14 days, Fjord is in a class of its own in municipal Norway with an inside figure of 1020. The figure shows new cases of infection in the period per 100,000 inhabitants.
On Wednesday, FHI announced that the reproduction number (R-number) is down to 1.0.
For Sarpsborg the number is 865.5 (491 new cases of infection), while for Stad it is 856.5 (81 new), according to the infection pressure map made with data from FHI.
Small numbers, big rashes
Fjord municipality originated when Norddal and Stordal merged, but is still a small municipality with a little over 2500 inhabitants. Here, outbreaks quickly have a major impact on national statistics.
Fjord: A new case of infection
On Tuesday, Fjord municipality announced one new person who has tested positive. It is infection number 25 so far in the municipality. The person was tested on a quick test on Monday and has since been quarantined. The municipality expects new test results on several tests on Wednesday.
– The infection team believes they have good control of the situation now, writes the municipality on its website.
Mayor Eva Hove says the municipality has around 1000 cabins and as many caravans. Before the infection alarm went off, they had prepared for a major incursion. Now the municipality has had meetings with the industry and believes to be well prepared before the Easter weekend.
– We think it will go well, says the mayor.
The outbreak that was discovered last week occurred in a work environment and then spread to the families. For the most part, those covid-19-infected have experienced mild symptoms, but there has been one hospitalization.
44 new cases in Sarpsborg
In the last 24 hours, 44 new cases of infection have been registered in Sarpsborg municipality. Only one has an unknown route of transmission, reports NTB.
34 of the new infected people who were registered on Tuesday are infected in the household, six are infected in a private gathering, two in kindergarten or school and one is infected abroad.
At the same time, 514 people were coronated.
A total of 2411 people have now been registered infected during the pandemic in Sarpsborg. This corresponds to 4.2 per cent of all inhabitants in the municipality, which has 56,732.
City: Three new cases
Stad municipality (9457 inhabitants) announced on Tuesday two new positive test results. Both cases involve close contacts with previously infected people. In addition, a peson visiting the municipality has been shown covid-19. All the new cases of infection have been detected in Selje.
– It is now considered that there is good control of the outbreak also in Selje and that the overall infection situation in Stad municipality will soon be able to be as it was before the outbreak, writes the municipality on its website.
– It is still important to have a strong focus on good infection control through Easter, the municipality writes further.
