Because of the approaching hurricane “Henri”, the authorities canceled a major concert with numerous stars in New York’s Central Park.
Because of the approaching storm, all visitors should “go quietly to the nearest exit,” the police said on Saturday evening (local time). New York Governor Andrew Cuomo declared a state of emergency in the state.

With the concert for 60,000 spectators under the motto “We love NYC”, New York actually wanted to celebrate its “rebirth” after the Corona crisis. Appearances by stars like Carlos Santana, Paul Simon, Patti Smith and Bruce Springsteen were planned. Singer Barry Manilow was on stage in the middle of a song when the microphone was turned off and a loudspeaker announcement asked the concertgoers to leave.

“I was so disappointed,” Manilow told CNN. “It was a wonderful, wonderful experience until it started to rain.” Lightning flashed across the sky and thunder could be heard as people streamed out of the park. “I think it makes sense for security reasons,” said concert-goer Maria Fuentes about the demolition. “I mean, I can hear the thunder.”
