In the “Rössl in der Au” student dormitory in the Höttinger Au, four positive corona cases were initially known. As a result, the Corona Center Innsbruck (CCI) carried out “intensive contact tracing including mass screening”, as it was called in the broadcast.
Also British mutation among positive cases
In the mass screening by the CCI, ten other people tested positive. This means that there is currently a positive test result for 14 people (as of Sunday 3:00 p.m.). The British Covid mutation has so far been detected in three cases. According to the city of Innsbruck, the reason for the cluster is the “mix of floors in the home”. That is why the first floors were officially isolated and segregated. Over 200 students are registered in the home, but according to the Corona Center Innsbruck many are currently not on site. By Sunday 3:00 p.m., 96 people had been segregated in the home.
In an interview with ORF Tirol, the CCI said that the three mutation cases are the previously confirmed cases. It is assumed, however, that after the sequencing, the British mutation will also be detected in other people who tested positive. More screenings are to take place in the coming days. In addition, it will be checked exactly how many people the residents had contact with outside of the student dormitory.
