Washington DC –
Number of cases corona virus (COVID-19) of United States of America (USA) is reported to be increasing rapidly in recent times. The increase in cases occurred when Corona varian Delta highly contagious diseases are increasingly dominating in the US and the vaccination process is stagnant.
As reported AFP, Thursday (07/08/2021), the latest data from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said that the average number of new cases for the seven days reached 13,859 cases through July 6. This figure is up 21 percent when compared to the previous two weeks.
Corona cases detected in recent days may increase further due to delays in reporting following the holiday weekend of the US independence anniversary on July 4.
According to the CDC, the spike in coronavirus cases occurred as the Delta variant, which is more contagious than the other variants, accounted for about 52 percent of cases during the two weeks ending July 3.
Despite having the highest number of vaccine availability of any country, the US Corona vaccination program has dropped dramatically since April. President Joe Biden failed to meet his target of vaccinating 70 percent of adults on US Independence Day on July 4, with the current figure reaching 67 percent.
US territories in part midwest and the south, where vaccination rates were low, reported higher case rates than other areas with high vaccination rates, such as in the northeast. This kind of trend has become apparent in recent weeks.
Local media reports said a hospital in Springfield, Missouri, ran short of ventilators to treat Corona patients at the weekend. Local media Kansas City Star reported that two hospitals in the city of 160,000 people treated 213 Corona patients as of Monday (5/7) local time.
That number increased dramatically when compared to last Friday (2/7) with 168 patients and on May 24 with 31 patients.
