Frank Delien is in good spirits – even if a class in the Kitzingen district was closed for the first time last week due to Corona. A 10th grade at the Kitzingen-Ochsenfurt vocational school has been in quarantine since October 1st. A student from the Main-Spessart district had tested positive for Corona.
“It’s always about avoiding mixing.”
Frank Delien on the corona measures–
“The machinery started immediately,” says Delien, who already knows the procedure from the Ochsenfurt school location. A class there had been quarantined two weeks ago. The Wrzburg Health Department is responsible for Ochsenfurt. This ordered testing procedures for all students and teachers who had contact with the infected person. If the result was negative, those affected were allowed to attend classes again. “The teachers were back after three days,” Delien recalls. The health department in Kitzingen acts a little differently. Here, all contact persons 1, i.e. those with very close contact, must generally remain in quarantine for 14 days. The teachers concerned are allowed to work again. According to the District Office, this is due to the fact that follow-up investigations have shown that contact with the students who tested positive was not so close. The teachers could be downgraded from contact person 1 to contact person 2 – with the result that they did not need to be quarantined.
In Kitzingen, a class of future bankers is affected by the quarantine. A total of 42 people from the districts of Kitzingen, Main-Spessart and Wrzburg have been identified as contact persons. The responsible health department has already been informed and the tests of the contact persons have been initiated.
The prospective bankers are trained in block lessons. “They wouldn’t be there at the moment anyway,” explains Delien. The prospective bankers from the 11th and 12th grades also stay at home during their block lessons. “At the moment, we would not be able to provide them with adequate training on site,” explains Delien. That is not a problem. Schoolchildren could also be trained from a distance via an internet platform.
For all other professional groups, lessons take place as usual – subject to the hygiene rules that have been agreed with the health department: mask compulsory in the corridors and in the auditorium, access to the toilet for only one person, spatial separation of the classes during the breaks. “It’s always about avoiding mixing,” explains the headmaster. Teachers and students can remove their masks during lessons. “Otherwise that would be too much of a burden,” says Delien, who despite the short time already speaks of a pleasant routine in the processes. The data was quickly transmitted to the respective district administrators – the vocational school is the competence center for the Wrzburg, Karlstadt and Kitzingen area – and the students were informed by email or Whatsapp. “It’s all well organized and runs smoothly,” says the headmaster happily.
“The climatic period will certainly put an additional burden on us.”
Frank Delien, headmaster–
In the coming days and weeks, however, he expects significantly more classes to be closed – also in the Kitzingen district, which has come off so well so far. While a total of twelve classes in the city and district of Wrzburg are currently temporarily in quarantine due to Corona, the 10th grade of the vocational school has so far been the only one in the district of Kitzingen. “The cold weather will certainly put an additional burden on us,” predicts Delien and announces: Whenever there is a small sign of cold weather, the students or teachers concerned will be sent home immediately. If there is an additional fever after 24 hours, a corona test is planned. If it turns out positive, the machinery starts up again.
