Dresden. The Dresden Titans were supposed to play their last main round game in the 2nd Pro B basketball league this Saturday in Hanau. The team of coach Fabian Strauss wanted to play in the play-offs, which should start next weekend. But a positive corona test within the Dresden team prevented the game from being held in Hanau. The game was canceled on Friday before the Saxons wanted to leave for Hesse.

“The cancellation of the game is the logical consequence in order to protect both our players and the players in Hanau,” said Titans managing director Rico Gottwald in a club announcement. Fortunately for both teams it is no longer about anything in terms of placement. Despite the cancellation, both teams remain in their respective place in the table (Dresden in first place and Hanau in eighth place). Gottwald continues: “We hope, in coordination with the Dresden Health Department, to be able to establish planning security for everyone involved as quickly as possible. The play-offs will start next week. It is therefore very important for us to what extent and for how long a possible quarantine could affect us. “

The new playoff mode of Pro B, which initially lets the best 16 teams of the north and south seasons compete in four groups of four, also allows more flexible design and scheduling of the appointments. Positive tests are contingencies that have been planned. How exactly will be proceeded now, however, is open. On Monday, the association will discuss the situation with the Dresden health department.
