The corona bonus could soon give employees a cash bonus in the pandemic – nursing staff will probably wait until 2022 for the corona special payment.
Berlin – The corona pandemic still has the country firmly under control. While Lower Saxony’s Prime Minister Stephan Weil is campaigning for new contact restrictions in view of the pandemic situation, tax-free special payments are supposed to provide some relief for many employees, at least financially. The corona bonus can be up to 1500 euros. Nursing staff should also benefit from the cash bonus, but not this year. For whom is it already worthwhile, and until when is the special payment tax-free?

Who gets the corona bonus? How much is the Corona special payment? And is the Corona premium tax-free?
Employees receive the corona bonus. Among other things, employees in the public service of the federal states now benefit, with Hessen going its own way. The regulations of the corona special payment also apply accordingly to Bremen, Lower Saxony and Hamburg. Employees in the public sector will be paid a corona bonus of 1,300 euros by March 31, 2022 at the latest, duty-free and therefore tax-free.

Does the corona bonus also apply to trainees, student employees and interns? And is the Corona special payment high?
The regulation for the corona bonus also applies to trainees, student employees and interns. In your case, the corona special payment is up to 650 euros. The amount of the Corona premium is the result of the most recent negotiations between trade unions and representatives of the federal states. Mini-jobbers will have to watch out for an important change in 2022, but they shouldn’t hope for a corona bonus. The situation is no different for recipients of the minimum wage, who can expect an increase to 12 euros soon.
Corona bonus in Hesse: the state goes its own way with the corona special payment – public sector employees receive 1000 euros corona bonus
Hesse’s special approach does not mean that public service employees go empty-handed when it comes to the Corona bonus. After separate negotiations by trade unions and employers, employees will be paid a special corona payment of up to EUR 1,000. With the exception of Hesse, the federal states negotiate jointly in the collective bargaining association of the federal states (TdL) on the corona premium. The finance minister of Lower Saxony, Reinhold Hilbers (CDU), had led the negotiations for the TdL. He was satisfied with the result.
Since 2004, Hessen has not been a member of the collective bargaining community of the federal states and accordingly negotiates independently. In Bavaria, the result of the collective bargaining agreement should also be transferred to civil servants, as the Bavarian Finance Minister Albert Füracker (CSU) explained.
Corona bonus 2022: According to the traffic light coalition, nurses should receive the special corona payment – but will not receive the corona bonus until next year
Nurses have played a particularly important role in the public debate in recent months. They received a lot of praise (and also a corona special payment?) For their services during the corona pandemic – but they were usually not able to buy much of it. The care situation is tense and wages are mostly low. Applause didn’t help them much, as the traffic light coalition knows about the Causa Corona special payment. While apart from a possible corona bonus in Lower Saxony, a new corona regulation will probably soon apply and there are new suspected Omikron cases, nurses are still waiting for their corona bonus here.
In view of the particular stress that nursing staff are exposed to, a new corona bonus is also provided for them. This should apply to both nursing staff in hospitals and old people’s homes. According to dpa the government plans to invest around one billion euros for this. Nursing staff, however, have to be patient: The early payments for the Corona bonus have been postponed to 2022. The health policy spokeswoman for the Greens Maria Klein-Schmeink justified this NTV with the fact that you want to make sure that the payments are reaching “the right employees”.
Corona special payment: Various companies such as Adidas, Siemens or Deutsche Post are also planning to pay a corona bonus
Various companies are also obviously planning to pay out a corona bonus to their employees. These companies with a possible corona special payment include Deutsche Post: It sees information from BR.de according to the plan to pay out around 200 million euros to around 550,000 employees in the form of a corona bonus. Siemens should also plan with a corona bonus of around 1000 euros per employee. At Adidas, up to 1000 euros per employee should also be paid out by Christmas 2021 – depending on the purchasing power in the respective country.
Corona bonus in Schleswig-Holstein: Kiel government members waive the special corona payment
In Kiel, the members of the state government forego the payment of a special corona payment, which saves the state around 30,000 euros. In addition to ministers and state secretaries, the heads of administration of the two largest cities in Schleswig-Holstein and the president of the state audit office are also affected by the decision on the corona premium. From salary group B9 onwards, no tax-free corona special payment is made in Schleswig-Holstein.

The state government had adopted the wage result for employees. Part of this result was also the corona bonus. To forego the special payment would be “a matter of course”, said the Green Finance Minister of Schleswig-Holstein, Monika Heinhold, to the dpa.
Christmas is approaching – but many still have to wait for their special corona payments. Until March 31, 2022, employers can pay out a tax-free corona bonus to their employees. In particular, the crisis-ridden nursing staff is waiting and hoping that the decision on the form and time of their bonus payments is no longer too far off. * Kreiszeitung.de is an offer from IPPEN.MEDIA.
