The Argentine president is self-isolating

Argentine President Alberto Fernandez announced, on Wednesday, that he is subject to self-isolation due to close contact with a person infected with the Coronavirus.

Fernandez said in a tweet on “Twitter” that he was in “close contact” with the Secretary-General of Strategic Affairs of the Presidency Gustavo Blaise, who had tested positive for the virus.

The Argentine president added that the results of a first swab to detect the virus were negative, but he preferred to self-isolate at the presidential residence “in compliance with the isolation protocols recommended by my doctor and health authorities.”

Fernandes, 61, said that he was “fine” and did not show any symptoms, stressing that preventive isolation was important to stop the spread of infection.

Argentina has so far recorded more than 1.2 million cases of corona and more than 34,000 deaths since the start of the epidemic.

A mysterious case in New Zealand

New Zealand authorities asked workers in the central business district of the largest city in the country to work from homes after a new case of coronavirus infection was announced, Thursday.

This is the first case of corona, with no known connection to the border since August.

A woman in her twenties in Auckland tested positive, and health officials are working to reveal how she was infected.

New Zealand also reported two other cases of HIV infection linked to the border, Thursday, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 1635, including 53 active cases.

Brazil records 544 new deaths

The Ministry of Health in Brazil said that it had recorded 48,331 new cases of Coronavirus, on Wednesday, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 5 million 748,375.

The number of deaths increased by 544 to 163,373.

China records 15 new infections

The National Health Commission in China said, Thursday, that the mainland recorded 15 new cases of Coronavirus, Wednesday, down from 17 the previous day.

The commission added in a statement that one local case was registered in Tianjin, and that the rest of the cases came from abroad.

The committee also stated that it recorded 6 new cases without symptoms, down from 15 similar cases the previous day.

The total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus on the mainland reached 86,299, while the number of deaths remains unchanged at 4,634.

Mexico records 7,646 new infections

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Health in Mexico recorded 7,646 new cases of coronavirus and 588 deaths, for a total of 986,177 infections and 96,430 deaths.

Mexico’s health officials say the true number of infections and deaths is likely much higher.

America continues to post record increases

On Wednesday, the United States continued to record huge increases in coronavirus infections, with the outbreak worsening in the northeast and the pandemic pressures already in the Midwest.

A Reuters count showed that the United States recorded 142,279 new cases of “Covid-19”, the highest level ever for the second consecutive day, and higher than 100,000 cases for the eighth consecutive day, and the number of deaths increased to 1464.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo was the latest official to impose a new round of social distancing restrictions, on Wednesday, in an attempt to protect the state that was the epicenter of the pandemic in the United States in its early stages.

In total, the United States recorded about 10.4 million HIV infections and 241,809 deaths.

22 thousand new infections in Germany

The data of the “Robert Koch Institute” for Infectious Diseases showed, on Thursday, that the number of confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Germany has risen to 727,553, after 21,866 new cases were recorded.

The data showed that the total number of deaths increased to 11,982 after 215 new cases were recorded.
