The president stated that “only two cities” are still under isolation, namely Bariloche (Rio Negro) and Puerto Desiado (Santa Cruz) in the south of the country.
He added that there are restrictions that will remain in effect until December 20, including mandatory wearing of a mask and a ban on organizing shows and gatherings of more than ten people in closed places. Public transport use will also remain limited.
The president warned that the pandemic has not been eradicated and that “we have not overcome it” yet.
On Friday, the Ministry of Health recorded 7,846 new cases of (Covid-19) and 275 deaths during the past 24 hours.
In total, the country has counted 1,407,264 cases and 38,216 deaths since the outbreak began last March.
The president added, “We are in talks with Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Oxford” to obtain vaccines “that will be available in Argentina next March.”
Los Angeles bans most gatherings
On Friday, the health authorities in Los Angeles, USA, banned most public and private gatherings temporarily, as the curve of (Covid-19) infections continues to rise.
The health authorities said that this decision, which will affect the second largest city in the United States, will last at least 3 weeks, until December 20 next.
A statement clarified that according to the new decision, “residents are advised to stay in their homes as much as possible.”
This decision, which will take effect on Monday, November 30, does not impose the closure of the doors of non-essential institutions such as libraries, museums or gyms, unlike what happened last March, but it will, in turn, reduce the ability of most institutions to receive.
These new restrictions come at a time when Los Angeles is witnessing a significant increase in the number of new infections with the emerging coronavirus, with an average of 4,751 new cases over the past five days.
The state of California, which has witnessed records in terms of new daily infections in recent days, has recorded at least 1.7 million people infected with the virus in total, as well as 19,033 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
China records 9 new infections
The National Health Commission of China said, on Saturday, that the mainland recorded 6 new cases of Coronavirus, compared to 5 the previous day.
The committee added in a statement that all new cases came from abroad.
The commission stated that it had recorded 4 new cases without symptoms, down from 8 the previous day.
The total number of confirmed cases of (Covid-19) on the mainland reached 86,501, while the number of deaths remains unchanged at 4,634.
