Corona Appears Again, Wuhan Closes Several Business-Public Transportation

Metropolitan city authority Wuhan from China temporarily shutting down some business activities and public transportation in a district of nearly one million people. This was done when the city where the Corona virus pandemic first appeared was increasing its vigilance after the emergence of several new cases of infection COVID-19.

Reported from the news agency ReutersWednesday (27/7/2022), Chinawhich implements a “zero-COVID” policy, relies on mass testing, rapid restrictions on business activity and movement of people, and strict quarantines to block new clusters from expanding.

The strategy has helped Wuhan and other areas of the country to keep the number of COVID-19 cases under control.

The Jiangxia district authority in Wuhan, with more than 900,000 residents, said its main urban areas should enter into three-day restrictions starting this Wednesday. These restrictions include a ban on large events and dining in restaurants, as well as the closure of public entertainment venues, agricultural products markets and small clinics and the temporary suspension of bus and subway services.

Authorities also urged residents not to leave the area for three days and encouraged travelers to avoid entering the district.

This rule was implemented after Jiangxia authorities said late Tuesday (26/7) that they had detected two cases COVID-19 during routine testing and found two other cases from examination of individuals who were in close contact with both cases.

The National Health Commission said on Wednesday (27/7), overall, China reported 703 new cases of COVID-19 infection for July 26, 120 of whom were symptomatic and 583 were asymptomatic.

No new deaths have been reported, so the national death toll from COVID-19 remains at 5,226.
