In Egypt, health care represents a very small percentage of the budget, and the government did not plan or organize efficiently combating the epidemic until after the situation worsened, and the people in general were not committed, due to the lack of health awareness on the one hand and the difficult economic conditions on the other hand. How does social distancing occur in a metro van crowded with passengers or in a room where five people live? The death rate in Egypt is unknown, and the Ministry of Health figures have no relation to the real figures because they reflect the death cases after doing a positive analysis in the state laboratories. The only way to calculate the death rate in Egypt is to calculate the difference between deaths from March 2019 to March 2020 compared to the same period the following year, with the calculation of the decrease in accident deaths after the closure.
If we look to the future, we find that the only way to contain the epidemic is through vaccination, which has begun in all parts of the world. Egypt needs 60 million doses to vaccinate 30 million Egyptians, given that more than 60 million are under 30 years old and 10 million are difficult to reach in an organized way. Most of the countries of the world sought early to produce the vaccine or reserved numbers of the vaccine early, and the situation in Egypt seems ambiguous, and no one knows precisely whether there is a vaccine in Egypt now, and what are its numbers. Is the Chinese vaccine, which is the closest, cheapest, and most suitable for us, has the results of the third phase of its trials been reviewed to be safe and effective? Is the Swedish English vaccine AstraZeneca Egypt can get doses from? It was said that Egypt contracted it but no one knows the exact information. The two American vaccines are not suitable for use in Egypt because they use cooling technology that is not available to large numbers.
It is clear that Israel will finish vaccinating all the people at the end of March and all countries of the world will step forward in vaccination, including the Gulf, Jordan and Morocco. And vaccination in all countries of the world is guaranteed by the state budget.
Urgently required of the Egyptian state to be frank with the people and answer the following questions:
1. Is there an internationally approved vaccine in Egypt? How many units?
2. Are there known contracts, what is their date of arrival, what are their types and numbers?
3. Is there a plan in place for the priorities of administering the vaccine and announcing to the people any system that has been studied?
4. Finally, will the state implement raising the level of spending on health in the budget, as mentioned in the new budget? Will it actually be spent on the health sector, or will the drainage on sewage and drinking water be included in the health budget to raise it nominally?
