A new study conducted by the University of Miami Miller College of Medicine has discovered the potential effects that the Corona virus can have on male fertility and sexually transmitted diseases, according to what the New York Post reported, and this comes to add new evidence to previous reports that were looking at the effect of Corona on male fertility.

According to the New York Post, researchers examined tissues from the autopsy of six men who died from Corona infection and found that the virus was still in their testicles, and they also found Corona in the testicles of a 28-year-old patient who was infected with the Coronavirus and recovered without showing symptoms.
–
“We have also identified the presence of the virus in a man who underwent a testicular biopsy due to infertility but had a previous history of corona,” said Dr. Ranjith Ramasamy, Associate Professor and Director of the Department of Urology and Reproductive Medicine at Miller School.
Dr. Ramasamy added, “Therefore, the patient’s examination result was negative and he did not show symptoms after infection with Corona, but the virus still appears inside the testicles … The result is new and wonderful and definitely deserves further exploration.”
The study continued to wonder about the amount of virus required to be present in the testicles to be detected in the semen, and which of them can be transmitted through sexual contact.

Dr. Ramasamy said: “I am quite sure, that about 20 to 30% of men will be affected by some kind of fertility problem in their future due to Corona.”
More research must be done in order to fully understand how testicular tissue responds to corona, but this current study is a step forward in understanding the virus better.
Dr. Ramasamy recommends that men of all ages who have contracted Corona and who are experiencing testicular pain, should see a urologist.
He said, “Testicular pain in addition to other symptoms could be a sign of corona entering the testicle, and if men are thinking about fertility or low testosterone either at the present time or in the future, they must evaluate their testosterone levels with a blood test and the value of sperm with an analysis.” Semen.
