More and more people are being treated with Covid-19 in Hamburg’s intensive care units. More than 100 beds are now occupied there.
The number of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in one week rose to 159 in Hamburg. As of Friday, 485 corona patients were in Hamburg’s hospitals. With the increasing number of infections, the utilization of the intensive care units also increases.
More than 100 beds in Hamburg clinics are currently occupied by Covid 19 patients. Every second seriously ill person is ventilated. 14 percent of the intensive care beds in Hamburg are currently still free. The intensive care units of the Amalie Sieveking Hospital and the Groß-Sand Clinic after the occurrence of corona infections. Amalie Sieveking Hospital is scheduled to reopen on December 30th.

Clinics should postpone predictable operations
According to information from NDR 90.3, an agreement has already been made with nine Hamburg clinics to dispense with predictable operations in order to keep beds free for corona patients. This agreement was accordingly made with the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf, the Marien and Albertinen Hospitals and the Asklepios hospitals in Barmbek, Wandsbek, Nord, St. Georg Altona and Harburg. For this, the hospitals receive compensation payments from the federal government.
